How it Works
Transfer depends on 1) the similarity between the course material, or 2) how the potential transfer can apply to the requirements of your new program (e.g. an art course might not be related to your social worker degree, but you might be able to apply it as an elective credit). Other things that can impact whether you'll receive a transfer credit:
Transfer Steps
- Explore your options
You might want to consider: Whether the school and program is the right fit? How many credits you will get? Costs and fees? - Talk to a Transfer Advisor
Schools tend to have different transfer processes so once you have found a school (or a few) that you're interested in transfering to, find out about that school's specific requirements. - Apply to the school for admission and transfer assessment
- An official transcript from your current school
- Course outlines for the courses you want to transfer
- Only provide transfer credit assessment after you've accepted admission to the school
- Others automatically assess credits upon application
- Charge a fee for transfer credit assessment and/or the actual credit transfer
