The minimum grade required to transfer a course to the Royal Military College of Canada is 60% or "C-", except where an articulation agreement or Engineering Accreditation guideline states otherwise. This minimum refers to undergraduate transfer credits.

The Royal Military College of Canada awards RMCC course equivalencies, unallocated discipline specific credits, and unallocated general elective credits.

Residency Requirements

Provides students with the amount of study they must complete in order to be awarded the credential in which they are enrolled.

The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by the Royal Military College of Canada's residency policy. For undergraduate degrees, the policy states that normally at least 50% of degree requirements must be completed at the College. However, for students completing a General Bachelor of Military Arts and Science, only 10 of the 30 credits must be completed at the College.

Currency/Timing of Previous Postsecondary Education

Provides students with an indicator of the currency required to utilize their previously completed postsecondary education for transfer credit.

The Royal Military College of Canada will consider all courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency. However, for Computer Science courses taken more than 5 years ago the equivalencies listed in the ONTransfer Course Transfer Guide will not be valid until a new review has been completed confirming current university level learning.

PLAR Procedures/Steps

Follow these steps in order to receive your undergraduate PLAR assessment at the Royal Military College of Canada:

  • Review the RMCC Table of Credit Granted (https://www.rmcc-cmrc.ca/en/plar/table-credit-granted).
  • An initial Prior Learning Assessment is completed for RMCC students only. If you meet RMCC admissions requirements, you will receive an initial assessment by completing the Admissions application form.
  • Credits granted for PLAR (completion of military or other professional courses recognized as learning at a university level, worthy of university credit) will be recorded on your Royal Military College of Canada transcript as "CG " and will not be included in the calculation of your average.

PLAR Costs

Provides students with the cost of completing a PLAR assessment (challenge exam, course challenge, portfolio, etc.).

An initial undergraduate Prior Learning Assessment, including PLAR assessment, at the Royal Military College of Canada is included in the application fee for admission ($75.00 includes review of postsecondary and military courses). A review of professional courses not already on the RMCC Table of Credit Granted is $500.00.

Appearance of Awarded Transfer Credit(s) on Transcript

Provides students with the code(s) used to record transfer credits on their transcript and an indication of whether these credits will be included in GPA calculation.

Transfer credits will be recorded on your Royal Military College of Canada transcript as "TC " and will not be included in the calculation of your average.
