Terms for renewal or cancellation

This agreement is subject to review when curricular changes may have an impact on the agreement. Articulation designates will review the agreement annually to ensure it is current. This Agreement may be terminated with notice of one year. In the event of termination of the Agreement, every effort will be made to ensure that students currently enrolled in the program will not be affected.

Eligibility for Pathway

To qualify for this agreement, students must have:
- successfully completed Durham College's Child and Youth Care Advanced Diploma Program;
- a minimum overall average of 75%.

 

Credit transfer

Students commencing studies in the Child & Youth Care Advanced Diploma program since Fall 2016 will receive the following 7.0 transfer credits:

  • 0.5 CHYS 1000H - Introduction to Child and Youth Studies
  • 0.5 CHYS 1002H - Playful Pedagogy
  • 0.5 CHYS 2001H - Child and Youth Rights and Legal Issues
  • 0.5 CHYS 3001H - Case Studies of Professional Ethics and Risk Management
  • 1.0 CHYS 4880Y - Placement - Field-Based Learning, or 1.0 unasigned Child and Youth Studies credit at the 4000 level 
  • 0.5 WRIT 1001H - Write in time
  • 0.5 unassigned Psychology credit at the 2000 level (B2 category)
  • 1.5 unassigned Arts credit at the 1000 level
  • 0.5 unassigned Arts credit at the 2000 level
  • 0.5 unassigned Science credit at the 1000 level
  • 0.5 unassigned Science credit at the 2000 level

Students entering Trent prior to the September 2020 term will be required to complete the following:

  • 1.5 additional Child & Youth Studies credit at the 3000 level
  • 0.5 PSYC 1020H - Introduction to Psychology Part 1: Experimental and Biological Bases of Behaviour
  • 0.5 PSYC 1030H - Introduction to Psychology Part 2: Social and Personality Perspectives
  • 0.5 PSYC 3500H - Child Development
  • 0.5 SOCI 1001H - Introduction to Sociology 1: Critical Foundations
  • 0.5 SOCI 1002H - Introduction to Sociology 2: Exploring Social Life
  • 7.5 additional credits, including the following:
    • Maximum 1.0 credit at 1000 level
    • Minimum 4.0 credits at 3000 level or above
