Pathway Details

Terms for renewal or cancellation

The agreement shall be continuous from year to year; however, either party may terminate the agreement at any time. Students enrolled at Laurier's Brantford Campus at the time of any change shall be allowed to complete their degree based on the original terms of this transfer pathway.

Eligibility for Pathway

Graduates of an eligible 4 semester (2 year) Ontario College Social Service Worker Diploma program with a minimum 75% cumulative average are eligible to apply to the Honours Bachelor of Social Work program at Laurier's Brantford Campus. In addition to the minimum admissions average, applicants may be required to have program specific prerequisites.  For a full list of prerequisites please visit http://wlu.ca/information-for/future-students/transfer/college-pathways.html.

Credit transfer

Students who graduate from an Ontario College with an eligible Social Service Worker Diploma with an overall average of 75% or higher are eligible for full time admissions to the Honours Bachelor of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University's Brantford Campus.  Although the minimum average is 75%, this is a competitive entry program and a higher average may be required.

Eligible applicants will receive a maximum total of 7.0 transfer credits amounting to about 3 semesters (1.5 academic years) of full time study:  3.5 Social Work transfer credits and 3.5 elective credits. It is recommended that students not take more than 2.0 credits per term.

Credits that must be achieved at the receiving institution

Students must complete the remaining 13.0 credits of the Honours Bachelor of Social Work Degree as outlined in the Undergraduate Academic Calendar.

Anticipated normal schedule of student progression

Students taking a typical full time course load can complete the 4-year degree program in 3 years as outlined in the Undergraduate Academic Calendar.
