Pathway Details

Terms for renewal or cancellation

Lakehead University will review the transfer pathway every five years, introducing new amendments as appropriate. Any change to the pathway will not affect current students. Students enrolled at Lakehead at the time of any change shall be allowed to complete their degree based on the original terms of this transfer pathway.

Eligibility for Pathway

Applicants who have completed a two-year Natural Resources or Forestry Technician or Technology Diploma program (or another allied program) with a minimum 70% or in the final year of their program are eligible for admission consideration to year three of  the Honours Bachelor of Science Forestry (HBScF) program.

Applicants with two or more years of relevant career experience acquired after the completion of a diploma with a minimum 65% average in the final year of their program are eligible for admission consideration.

Students admitted to the Honours Bachelor of Science Forestry program will be required to attend and successfully complete a 4-week summer transition program. The summer transition program normally begins on the last week of July. The actual start date will be included in the Offer of Admission letter.

Based on individual assessments, students may also be required to fulfill additional course requirements. Upon application and receipt of official transcripts an admission decision will be made.

Credit transfer

Students will receive block transfer credit for the first 2 years of the Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry program, and will be placed into Year 3 of the 4 year program, upon successful completion of the summer transition program.

Credits that must be achieved at the receiving institution

Students are required to successfully complete all course requirements for their program as outlined in the Lakehead University academic calendar.

Anticipated normal schedule of student progression

Following the completion of the 4-week summer transition program, the program can be completed in two academic years (four semesters). However, if additional courses are assigned it may take longer to complete the program.
