Transfer credits for students entering the Natural Environment Technician Diploma program prior to Fall 2023 will be awarded on a course-by-course basis.

Exigences

To qualify for this agreement, students must:
- Successfully complete Sault College’s Natural Environment Technician Diploma program;
- A minimum overall average of 75%.

Students interested in degree programs not included in this pathway are referred to the Trent University website for information about admission requirements. Applicants will be considered in accordance with Trent University's general admission requirements. Students who meet the terms of the pathway will be eligible to receive the block of credits, but all transfer credits received may not be apply in full to all degree programs. 

Applicants who do not meet the minimum average requirements, but who are otherwise admissible to Trent University, will be considered for admission based on general admission requirements.

  • 0.5 ERSC 2090H - Introduction to Geographical Information Systems
  • 0.5 ERSC 2220H - Environmental Assessment: Chemical and Laboratory Methods
  • 0.5 ERSC 2230H - Environmental Assessment: Sampling and Analysis
  • 0.5 ERST 3000H - Environmental Professional Practice
  • 0.5 MATH 1051H - Non-Calculus Statistics 1: Elementary Probability and Statistics 
  • 1.0 credits from the following:
    • 0.5 ERSC 1020H - Cases in Environment and Sustainability;
    • 0.5 ERSC 1040H - Earth's Physical Processes and Environments;
    • 0.5 ERSC 1050H - Introduction to Climate Change Science and Policy;
    • 0.5 ERST 1030H - Human Geographies in Global Context;
    • 0.5 SAFS 1001H - Introduction to Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems
  • 0.5 credit from the Trent School of Environment Capstone Course List
  • 3.5 additional Environmental and Resource Science credits at the 3000 level or beyond
  • 0.5 additional Environmental and Resource Studies credit at the 2000 level or beyond
  • 3.0 elective credits, including:
    • a minimum of 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List 
    • a minimum of 0.5 Math credit.

*Additional notes: 

  • Courses without specified year levels must include at least 0.5 credit at the 3000 or 4000 level, and no more than 1.5 credits at the 1000 level. Choice credits must also include at least 1.5 science credits to fulfill requirements for the Bachelor of Science (Honours)..
  • Trent University also offers a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Environmental and Resource Studies. Requirements for the Environmental and Resource Studies degree program differ from those listed above. Students interested in pursuing the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) are referred to the Academic Calendar for more details.
  • Elective credits may be reduced, depending on the credit weighting of the Trent School of Environment Capstone Course chosen. A current, full list of capstone course options is available at https://trentu.ca/calendar.

This Agreement will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if significant curriculum changes occur at either institution that may impact the pathway. Either party may terminate this Agreement by providing one year's written notice to the other party. In the event of termination, the parties will make reasonable efforts to ensure that students currently enrolled in the pathway are able to complete their studies without disruption.
